Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and transport yourself into a breathtaking Eco-Friendly Self-Catering Cottages.
We offer well-appointed, self-catering cottages in the wonderous gateway to Chillagoe-Mungana Caves National Park. Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and transport yourself into a breathtaking landscape where time appears to have stood still. Chillagoe Cabins are based on the design of old miners’ huts and you'll feel as if you have drifted back in time - there is even an array of historical memorabilia in each cabin to complement the old-fashioned exterior. However, this is where the kinship with the past ends - each cabin is decked out with comfortable beds and luxury linen that lures you even during the daytime, fully equipped bathrooms, kitchen facilities and digital television.
If self catering is off your bucket list, then join other dinner guests for some real sumptuous home cooked Aussie Tucker, and don't fret over breakfast either, because that is all part of the package too, with a great continental breakfast poolside every morning that will set you up for the whole day. For those who wish to self-cater, a barbeque near the pool offers another opportunity to engage with the surrounding tropical gardens.
Chillagoe is located on the Tableland 2.5 hours west of Cairns and is accessible by normal vehicles while there is the weekly Savannahlander Train just down the road. Chillagoe is a world re-known tourist destination for its above-ground limestone caves formed from the great Coral Reef some 400 million years ago. There are between 600 and 1000 caves located in the area of the Chillagoe – Mungana National Park. The Heritage Listed Refinery / Smelter once produced lead, silver, copper, and gold for the economy. There are many ruins around the town to be researched and investigated as well as native trees for visitors to wander about and they provide a habitat for an abundance of wildlife or take a personally catered tour, where you can explore some of the most interesting sites in Chillagoe.
